#IndigoYAPreview Fall 2017 Recap

Hey everyone! Yesterday we were lucky enough to attend a YA preview event hosted by Indigo Books at their head office in Toronto. We’ve attended their previews twice before, and as always, we had lots of fun! Thank you to Indigo for inviting us and to the publishers for donating awesome books for us bloggers/readers to take home.

This post will mostly be photos, and of course, we’ll share the awesome books we took home!

We started by mingling and eating (photo below); we got there around 4:50, and it was due to start at 5pm. The preview covered YA books, but we also talked about everything from graphic novels/manga to romance reads and crossover adult titles! Continue reading

May Wrap-Up [2017]

Hey all! We’re having a tough time believing it’s June already; seriously, where does time go?? We did some pretty cool things in May, so let’s take a look!

Sasha read: 0 books (sigh!). She did, however, read MOST of ACOWAR. 😀

Sarena read: 3 books

  1. Trials of Apollo 2: The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan — 4.5*
  2. I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo — 4.5* (review here)
  3. Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han — 5*

This month we also did something REALLY awesome. We signed with our literary agent, Pete Knapp (you can read our story here). We are so excited to get started on revisions for this new book!

On May 4 we attended a book signing for Nicola Yoon! I loved TSIAAS so that was really exciting!

On May 6 we were invited to the Raincoast blogger preview (which we watched from the comfort of our home, yay!). We are so stoked for the books coming this fall from Raincoast/Macmillan, like Renegades and Language of Thorns!

We also began interning for the awesome book packager CAKE Literary. (Seriously, they’re awesome.)

On May 21 we attended a signing for SJ Maas! We got to the mall location at 8:45ish and got one of the few final tickets for the signing at 1PM. The store was PACKED. (Photos below!)

Now let’s take a look at our month via Instagram photos:

We hope you all had a great month! Look out for a May book haul on our Instagram soon 😀

However, we can’t forget all of the amazing things that DID actually happen, and that we accomplished in 2016. So we’re going to go through, month by month, and tell you 1 highlight, along with our favourite book we read that month. Let’s get started!

JANUARY

Ah. The beginning of 2016. The start of a new, fresh year. And let’s just say, we had a good month! (For both the reading and school category, and lots and lots of editing!). We didn’t attend any book signings or anything, but it was a good month for reviews and blogging! Our favourite post of the month was definitely… Continue reading

2015 Wrap Up

Hey, readers! 2015 was a fantastic year for blogging/reading/writing. We didn’t publish any books in 2015, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t busy writing and revising!

Let’s do a break down month-by-month! 😀

January 2015

January was mostly a reading month, and starting 2nd semester of our first year in university! We also set our 2015 bookish resolutions.

Jenny Han Signing: Quick Wrap Up!

June 4 was an awesome day – Jenny Han’s book signing! This was the first time we ever went to a Jenny Han signing; and since we just recently finished the Burn for Burn trilogy (and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) we were super excited to see her in person!

We got there about 1.5 hours early–and unfortunately there were not a lot of chairs, but we still got a seat. After a lot of waiting, Jenny came! And there was a long line-up all the way to the door!

She talked a bit about P.S. I Still Love You, her latest book, and how her/her team really had to rush to the finish line with this one. She shared her inspiration behind the sister relationship in the book (Little Women being primary!) and read the letter at the start of the book aloud. It continued right from where TAtBILB ended.

After that there was a fun little Q&A session with prizes! Though Sasha asked the first question, she didn’t get a prize (*sigh*) but at least we got in the signing line pretty quickly! 😀

Here’s our pic with Jenny:

And some pics from our time waiting before the signing:

Jenny talking about her books!!

Our signed copy of P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU!

She also signed our copy of BURN FOR BURN (she could only personalize one book). She spent some time talking to us personally about a story she’d heard online about identical twins, and we talked to her about our books and gave her a bookmark. She was super sweet and nice!! 🙂

Plus, after the signing we met up with a bunch of bloggers/booktubers in the area. Though we didn’t get to chat for long, we’re really happy we met all these awesome people!

That’s all for this post. Have you read or picked up P.S. ? Sasha’s read it and we’ll be reviewing it soon! ❤
