#IndigoYAPreview Fall 2017 Recap

Hey everyone! Yesterday we were lucky enough to attend a YA preview event hosted by Indigo Books at their head office in Toronto. We’ve attended their previews twice before, and as always, we had lots of fun! Thank you to Indigo for inviting us and to the publishers for donating awesome books for us bloggers/readers to take home.

This post will mostly be photos, and of course, we’ll share the awesome books we took home!

We started by mingling and eating (photo below); we got there around 4:50, and it was due to start at 5pm. The preview covered YA books, but we also talked about everything from graphic novels/manga to romance reads and crossover adult titles!

Food! There were bagels which I didn’t picture; there were also chips & popcorn, which I forgot to take a pic of!

After we mingled with people like Adriyanna, Dani, Liran, and Olivia, we sat down for the presentation. We all started by introducing ourselves and our fave read that had already come out. Mine was The Reader by Traci Chee; Sasha’s was Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. (SO GOOD!)

My favourite parts of the presentation were definitely the Fantasy/Sci-Fi sections. Those are my two fave genres, besides historical! It made me so happy to see so many sci-fi books coming out. Sci-Fi is definitely making a comeback!

Books in these sections I’m excited for: The City of Brass (a DVPit book!), The Last Namsara (CDN author!), Fireblood (also CDN!), One Dark Throne, Warcross, RENEGADES!

One book that was definitely hyped up by a store rep was Nyxia. I’d never heard of it before but the premise sounds amazing–she described it as a diverse mashup of The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Ender’s Game. MOXIE by Jennifer Mathieu was also super hyped; even though I hadn’t planned on reading it before, I feel so much more excited about it now. Luckily we got an ARC!

Another thing I enjoyed was the No Filter section. One of the reps announced that Indigo will be placing tables in large format stores that will have “no filter” books; basically books discussing important social issues, such as The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and the poetry collection Depression and Other Magic Tricks. The “No Filter” table will also have a major media campaign. I’m super excited for it!

Of course, we had to talk about John Green’s latest, and how basically no one has read it but his editor! (*Insert crying laughing face*)

There were also a bunch of cool books on display that we are SO excited for:

We are so excited for these books and cannot wait to read them. Again, thank you to Indigo for a great evening, and to all the reps for their excitement! (Psst, look out on our Twitter for a giveaway!)

Until next time,
