This week was #IReadYA week, hosted by the Scholastic Teen disvision (This is Teen). Being YA book lovers, the first week of May is our favourite time of year to spread YA cheer!
We participated in 1 of the picture challenges, which was:
A Book That Got You Into YA: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld!
And we posted a picture of a few of the best YA books we’ve read over the past year or two (that we own):
And, of course, we were spreading our YA cheer through tweets and Instagram posts. We also read a few awesome YA books this week, including THE RAVEN KING by Maggie Stiefvater (still crying), THE GIRL FROM EVERYWHERE by Heidi Heilig (review to come soon!), and I (Sasha) started THE UNEXPECTED EVERYTHING (review here).
YA is full of awesome, amazing, diverse reads. You can read anything from coming-of-age to dark thrillers, light contemporaries to high fantasies. Though we’re fantasy/sci-fi lovers at heart, we always appreciate a good mystery woven throughout a book, or a book that demonstrates strong familial relationships. And we think YA is starting to branch out and explore so many different themes and genres and things unexplored!
If you’re a YA reader and lover, comment your favourite YA reads below! What was the first YA book you ever completed? Your favourite YA of 2016?
That’s all for today’s post! Look out for a new editing series titled EDITING 101 that we’ll be starting on the blog tomorrow! Posts will be up throughout the week, so if you’re a writer, make sure you’re subscribed so you can get all the details on that!
And P.S., Happy Mother’s Day!
Until next time,
