2015 Wrap Up

Hey, readers! 2015 was a fantastic year for blogging/reading/writing. We didn’t publish any books in 2015, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t busy writing and revising!

Let’s do a break down month-by-month! ๐Ÿ˜€

January 2015

January was mostly a reading month, and starting 2nd semester of our first year in university!ย We also set our 2015 bookish resolutions.

Favouriteย post of the month: Throne of Glass Review

February 2015

February on our blog was mostly reviews, reviews, reviews (and new cover reveals!). We didn’t do much writing that month, but we did receive a revision from an author friend for our current YA novel.

Favourite post of the month: A Day of Writing — GIF Edition

March 2015

Technically this was the last full month of school. Besides university, we were basically fangirling over books this month. The cover of WINTER by Marissa Meyer was revealed (so. pretty.) and we also celebrated International Women’s Day with this post.

Favourite post of the month: Reviews of RUSH and PUSH by Eve Silver

April 2015

Exams. School ends (HOORAY!), meaning we did tons of revisions to our manuscript. As in MAJOR overhaul.

We also met Kelley Armstrong at a local library event. She was super sweet!

Favourite post of the month: World Book Day — International Covers!

May 2015

In May we did all the revisions we planned in April. Technically, at this point, the book was still in its nasty first-to-second draft stage, but it was at least getting somewhere. The genre changed from paranormal to mystery (haha. I shudder thinking of the first draft!).

We also had our first book signing of the year at Chapters, which was lots of fun!

Favourite post of the month: #IReadYA week: Top YA series

June 2015

Finally the weather started to warm up, and we were in total summer mode. We did major revisions every day this month–and major reading binges, of course!

This month was also super busy because we set up our week-long BLOG TOUR. Check it out if you haven’t already!

We also met Morgan Rhodes, a local author of one of our favourite series, FALLING KINGDOMS. We attended her launch party in Toronto and it was tons of fun meeting other readers/bloggers!

Earlier in the month we met Jenny Han for the first time. You can read all about it in our Jenny Han Signing — Quick Wrap Up! post.

July 2015

We attended our first-ever concert (Imagine Dragons!) and it. was. awesome. We also blasted out (blasted … haha) our first batch of queries to test the waters with our new manuscript. There were still, however, lots of changes to come!

We also started participating in the Summer Blogger Promo Tour which began July 5 and was hosted by the awesome bloggers Amber and Jessica @ The Book Bratz!

We began writing an MG book as we queried, which went … nowhere. It was lots of fun for the few days we worked on it, though ๐Ÿ˜›

Favourite post of the month: Top Diverse YA Reads of the Year (So Far)

August 2015

August involved lots more blogging and revisions. We held another book signing and attended our first-ever blogger party thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada!

We also participated in ARC August, which was basically a fun way to tackle our ARC TBR for the month! (It was hosted by Octavia and Shellyย @ Read.Sleep.Repeat!)

Non-blogger wise, we began volunteering at our university library and attended our second-ever baseball game (Go Jays!).

September 2015

School starts up again, and we get back into the swing of things. We participated in our first ever Twitter pitch party (#PitMad) and found a lot of awesome agents! Even a few we’d been meaning to query for a long time ๐Ÿ˜€

We also started our first unique feature for the blog (besides wrap ups called “What’s Going On” in 2014) called The Book Buzz! We basically wrap up info from the month concerning the YA and MG book/movie community.

Favourite post of the month: Queen of Shadows Review

October 2015

October was mostly concerned with school and book reviews for our blog. We were also doing lots of NaNoWriMo prep!

Non-blogger wise, we participated in a Halloween Carnival for our writing club at school ๐Ÿ˜€

We also went to a Young Writers’ Conference in Toronto, which is held annually for teens (12-19, I believe). We met Eve Silver, got our copy of RUSH signed, and attended two awesome workshops!

On Twitter, we found out about an awesome pitching opportunity called PitchSlam. The theme was Harry Potter and we were picked to be on Team Slytherin (yay!). Agents could then comment on posts if they wanted to request pages. We were very lucky to have been picked and received requests! Thanks again to everyone who organized #PitchSlam!

Favourite post of the month: The Emoji Book Tag

November 2015

November 10 was our birthday and we had lots of fun … at Indigo, as usual ๐Ÿ˜‰ November was also NaNoWriMo which was CRAY. We were very behind every day of NaNo except the 29th, when we caught up and actually WON.

You can read about our NaNo wrap up here.

Favourite post of the month: Birthday Book Haul!

December 2015

Last month of the year, and basically we were done school (it ended Dec 1, and we had one exam on the 17th). We did a few revisions but mostly studied and watched Star Wars … since we basically forgot everything. And obviously we were quite busy with all the Christmas celebrations!

We also went to #TOBookmas which was a fun party for book bloggers in Toronto. We did a gift exchange (book exchange, of course) and it was a great way to cap off the year. ๐Ÿ˜€

Favourite post of the month: 2015 End of Year Book Survey

We hope you all had a fantastic 2015! Here’s to a great 2016, all ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Endlessly Reading says:

You both had such a productive year and i need to get my hands on a copy of your novel! So glad to hear that you are both still hard at work working on your next manuscript and querying, i hope to get at that point somewhere in 2017 as i’m revising as much as i can this year! Can’t wait to see where this year takes you both ๐Ÿ˜€
