S&S Preview Party — Quick Recap

Hey, everyone! We decided today we’d write up a quick recap of our experience at the Simon & Schuster Canada preview party (a look at the upcoming fall YA & MG releases from S&S). It was our first S&S event so we were really excited to be invited! 😀

Since the party was mostly just mingling, we’ll just be sharing pics of all the stuff there + what we did!

First, we … well, showed up. The party took place at The Spoke Club in Toronto, which was a little hard to find, but we made it! When we walked in we met our blogger friend Nova, who we’d met at the Jenny Han signing in June. We also talked to Jessica, a blogger at Bookish Serendipity! Then we walked to the ARC table and grabbed a few of the S&S Canada ARCs we didn’t already have.

We talked for a bit before heading straight for the candy bar (OH MAN, there was so much candy!). And there were Sno Cones!!

There was also a photo booth, so we took a bunch of pics!

After chatting for a bit, we decided we needed to get talking to some authors. After an intro from the Vice President of S&S Canada (*insert squeal*) we talked to Kevin Sands, author of The Blackthorn Key. He was SUPER nice and funny. We both really enjoyed his book, so it was nice to meet him. We also talked to him shortly about his experience with querying. He was a really cool guy. 😀

We got The Blackthorn Key AND A Pocket Full of Murder signed (which we still have to read, but we’re very excited about it).

We took home a LOT of books. Here’s a pic of all of them, most being from S&S Canada’s fall line-up of YA and MG novels. (We’re borrowing Illuminae and Truthwitch.) 😀 ❤

And the goodie bag we took home 😀

Overall, it was a fun, different experience–especially to be surrounded by so many publishing professionals (like authors, agents, editors, and the like)!

We didn’t get to see a few people who we’d known on Twitter (unfortunately it’s so hard to pick out people’s faces!) but we hope to meet up with them at future events.

That’s all for our brief recap! Thanks again to Simon & Schuster Canada for inviting us–we had a great time. 😀
